To pass, the bond will require a 60% supermajority β and if approved, funds can only be used for construction and facility upgrades, not staffing, academic programs, or classroom supplies. Yakima School District is asking voters this April to approve a capital bond that would fund the replacement of two aging school buildings. The district has not yet specified which two schools would be replaced or the total dollar amount of the bond.
The district is holding two public information sessions to help residents learn about the bond before the vote. Both sessions run from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and include time for questions.
