Yakima County issued two SEPA notices on July 30 for projects affecting Yakima City and Sunnyside. The Yakima River Gap to Gap Ecosystem Restoration Project addendum documents minor design changes to a culvert enlargement at Sportsman State Park. The Guimaraes Culvert Replacement proposal seeks to replace an existing culvert with a 100-foot culvert in a Type 3 stream.
Public comments for both projects are due by August 13. The Guimaraes project is a private applicant, while the Yakima River project is led by Yakima County with Washington State Parks as the applicant. The Yakima River project's addendum updates a 2022 decision based on final design plans.
The Johnson Foods expansion in Sunnyside and the Selah rezoning project are not in Yakima City and do not affect Yakima residents, so they are not covered under this article.
