Yakima County Seeks Input on River Buffer Work

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Yakima County Planning Division received a request from Equity Acquisitions, LLC to remove 2,470 cubic yards of graded fill from a 100-foot vegetative buffer along the Yakima River at 2500 Emerald Rd in Sunnyside. The fill was placed within the buffer zone, and the request seeks permission to move it outside the buffer on the same property. The County is accepting public comments until July 30, 2026.

The city of Yakima is also reviewing a separate proposal from HOGBACK WEST YAKIMA LLC for a 16-lot development in the GC zoning district at 905 S 72nd Ave. A preliminary binding site plan is being considered, with public comments due by July 28, 2026. This project is managed by the city, not the County.

The County and city are both seeking community input on these projects. Residents can submit comments to the County or city offices before the deadlines to provide feedback on the proposed changes.
