Yakima County Burn Restrictions Begin June 1

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Yakima County Fire Marshal has issued annual burn restrictions for unincorporated areas of Yakima County, effective Monday, June 1, through Monday, August 31, 2026.

Residential outdoor burning of non-recreational materials is prohibited during this period. This includes yard waste, ditch bank burning, and other private outdoor burning activities. The restriction is established under Yakima County Ordinance 4-2026.

Agricultural field and orchard burning may be allowed with a permit from the Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency. Recreational fires are permitted in approved campground devices and private residential fire pits using LPG-fueled appliances, charcoal starters, or commercially manufactured fire pits. Violations may result in civil fines of $250 for first offense, $500 for second, and $1,000 for third.
