WSU Extension Yakima published new gardening guides for local residents in July 2026. The guides cover native plants, iris care, shade cloth for heat-stressed plants, earwigs, and revolutionary trees.
The guides were written by WSU Master Gardeners Debra Kroon, Melody Westmoreland, Phyllis Pugnetti, Laura Willett, and Carol Barany. Each guide provides specific advice for Yakima Valley gardeners, including how to care for irises after blooming and using shade cloth to protect plants during summer heat.
Yakima residents can access these guides online at extension.wsu.edu/yakima for free. The guides aim to support local gardening efforts in the Yakima Valley, a region known for its agricultural focus and diverse plant life.
