The Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses to an injury hit-and-run collision that occurred at 1:56 a.m. on June 25, 2026, on westbound State Route 96 near Dumas Road/Elgin Way SE. A pedestrian was struck by a silver/grey late 1990s or early 2000s Chevrolet Tahoe with an unknown license plate, which fled the scene. The collision occurred in Yakima County but the vehicle continued into Snohomish County.

The incident took place in an area that is monitored for traffic safety, and the Yakima Police Department may be involved in the investigation. Residents walking or driving on SR 96 near Dumas Road are urged to report any relevant information to the State Patrol.
