West Chestnut Avenue between South 19th Avenue and Stanley Boulevard is closed Wednesday through Friday, April 8–10, 2026, for water line work. The closure is in effect each day from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The City of Yakima advises drivers to expect delays and use alternate routes where possible. Detours around the construction site will be in place during work hours.
A separate traffic disruption is also affecting the area this week. On Wednesday, April 8, drivers will encounter lane closures at the intersection of 1st Street and Mead Avenue from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Traffic signals at that intersection will go dark during that window and be temporarily replaced by stop signs in all directions. The city says the signal outage is needed to complete signal upgrades at the intersection.
