Two Yakima street closures are scheduled to begin Monday, April 6, and run through Friday, April 10, affecting drivers on the west side and near downtown.
The intersection of 72nd Avenue and Washington Avenue will be fully closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from 6 a.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Friday. City crews need to replace concrete in the island section of the roundabout installed there. The roundabout itself was completed in September 2025. Detours will be in place, and property owners in the area will keep access to their homes and businesses.
Separately, a block of Adams Street between S. 8th Street and S. 9th Street will close starting at 7 a.m. Monday for a stormwater project. Workers will restore curb and gutter along that stretch and repair a section of roadway to fix drainage problems. That closure is also expected to last through April 10. Property access will be maintained.
Drivers should plan alternate routes for both closures next week.
