Selah City Council is reviewing a comprehensive plan update and two new housing developments. The city's 2026 Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update will revise land use, transportation, and housing policies. A 23-lot Speyers Landing development near Selah's intersection of Speyers Road and Lynnwood Lane is proposed. The 62-lot Sugar Beet Ranch PUD in Sunnyside includes 54 single-family homes and 8 townhomes.
The Patnode Grass Carp project in Yakima allows Mel Patnode to plant sterile grass carp in his private pond to control weeds. The Yakima County proposal for a 150-foot communication tower at 381 Krough Rd in Prosser is for a wireless facility in an agricultural zone. All projects have public comment periods ending between August 28 and September 3.
Residents should note that the Speyers Landing development is in Selah, not Yakima city. The Sugar Beet Ranch project is in Sunnyside, also outside Yakima city limits. The Patnode grass carp application is the only project with a Yakima address, affecting a private pond owner.
