Yakima County Public Services stopped accepting walk-in customers on Fridays beginning April 10, 2026, under a three-month pilot program running through the end of June. The office, located on the fourth floor of the Yakima County Courthouse, is also closed to walk-in traffic on Fridays for the County Roads division.
The Yakima County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved the pilot during a work session on March 26. The proposal was presented by the Public Services Division. County officials say the Friday closure is designed to reduce permit processing times, address staffing shortages, and give staff uninterrupted time for plan reviews and administrative work.
Residents who need to make utility payments can do so online through Civic Pay Online or use one of three drop box locations: at the courthouse entrance, the drive-through box on the north side of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, or outside the main entrance doors on the fourth floor.
For questions, residents can contact Public Information Officer Monica Beltran or Building Official Marivel Garcia at (509) 574-2300.
