Yakima County Public Services will be closed to walk-in customers every Friday from April 10 through the end of June 2026. The three-month pilot applies to the Public Services and County Roads offices on the fourth floor of the County Courthouse. The Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved the program during a work session on March 26.
County officials say the Friday closures are meant to address staffing shortages and give staff uninterrupted time for plan reviews, permit processing, and administrative work. The goal is to reduce permit processing times and improve overall efficiency.
Residents who need to make utility payments can do so online through Civic Pay Online or use one of three secure drop boxes: at the courthouse entrance, the drive-through box on the north side of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, or on the fourth floor of the courthouse outside the main entrance. For questions, contact Public Information Officer Monica Beltran or Building Official Marivel Garcia at (509) 574-2300.
