Adams Street Closes Friday for Stormwater Repairs

A section of Adams Street will close to through traffic starting Friday, April 3, as crews begin a stormwater repair project. The closure runs from S. 8th Street to S. 9th Street and is expected to last through Friday, April 10. Work begins each day at 7:00 a.m.

The project will repair curb and gutter along the stretch and address drainage problems in the roadway. The City of Yakima says access to properties within the project area will be maintained throughout construction.

The Adams Street closure is one of several traffic disruptions the city announced this week. Water line work on N. 34th Avenue between Englewood Avenue and Powerhouse Road wrapped up Friday after restricting traffic to one lane with flaggers since Tuesday, March 31. Sidewalk repair crews also caused intermittent lane closures at multiple locations Tuesday through Thursday.

Drivers in the Adams Street area should plan for detours through April 10. Construction schedules are subject to change based on weather and work conditions.
